About Acquavella Galleries, Inc

Acquavella is a family-owned gallery founded by Nicholas Acquavella in 1925. The gallery first specialized in works of the Italian Renaissance, but in 1960, when William Acquavella joined his father, the focus of the gallery expanded to major works of the 19th and 20th centuries, including masters of Impressionism, Post-Impressionism, Cubism and Surrealism. Recently, William Acquavella has been joined by daughter Eleanor and his two sons Alexander and Nicholas, and the entire scope of the 20th and 21st centuries are now represented, including Abstract Expressionism and Pop Art.

For over eighty years, Acquavella has sold major paintings and sculpture to private collectors and museums worldwide. The gallery has presented museum-quality exhibitions of Claude Monet, Edgar Degas, Paul Cézanne, Alfred Sisley, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Camille Pissarro, Amedeo Modigliani, Pierre Bonnard, Yves Tanguy, Fernand Léger, Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Robert Rauschenberg, Lyonel Feininger, Alberto Giacometti, Joan Miró, Lucian Freud and James Rosenquist. Acquavella is the exclusive international agent for the renowned British painter Lucian Freud and the celebrated American painter James Rosenquist.
