Brooklyn Fire Proof
About Brooklyn Fire Proof
Brooklyn Fire Proof was conceived in 1998 as an environment for emerging artists to develop their practice in experimental exhibitions and studio spaces. Since then, it has grown into an exhibition space, performance space, emerging workspace/performance residency programs, and studio management facility maintaining several buildings throughout Williamsburg.
Brooklyn Fire Proof refrains from representing a stable of artists, instead opting to work with them on a project-by-project basis. BFP serves artists and their endeavors by helping to facilitate their greater success in the national and international contemporary art communities.
Attached to the gallery is a performance space that has been host to audio/visual performances, plays, and many well-known musicians, such as Califone, Br. Danielson, and former Black Dice member Hisham Bharoocha. BFP recently implemented a performance space residency program for musicians, artist, or theater groups that will aid in the development of specific projects culminating in a public viewing of work.
