Julie Saul Gallery
About Julie Saul Gallery
Julie Saul has owned and directed the gallery for over twenty years. From the outset, it was our intention to specialize in representing contemporary photographic based art, from traditional to avant-garde. We have also focused on special projects involving vintage photographs, and thematic and historical topics. The scope of our exhibitions now embraces may mediums including works on paper, illustration, video and installations.
We currently reside in our fifth space on West 22nd Street in Chelsea, after fifteen years in Soho. Among the group of artists we represent, several have been with us since the beginning, and we regularly premier emerging contemporary artists, as well as artists from all generations. Our artists are represented in the collections of most major American and many European art museums. We provide advice and consultation to our private and corporate collectors and pride ourselves on our knowledge, expertise and integrity.
We regularly participate in public art fairs including Pulse Miami, Pulse New York and historically AIPAD (the Association of International Photographic Art Dealers), the Gramercy Fairs in New York and Los Angeles, Paris Photo, the Chicago Art Fair and the New York Armory Show.
In addition to solo exhibitions we organize thematic and historical shows, several of which have subsequently traveled to museums. Some of these include John Cocteau: The Mirror and the Mask, Constructing Images: Synapse Between Photography and Sculpture, Shooting the Moon: A Survey of Moon Photographs from the Invention of Photography to the Present and Skin/Deep: A Survey of Interior Imaging from X-Ray to MRI.
