About Lyons Wier Ortt Contemporary Art

Michael Lyons Wier received a BA in Art History from the University of South Florida in Tampa. Upon graduation Mr. Lyons Wier moved to Chicago and worked for several local galleries where he gained valuable insight to gallery operations. Wishing to pursue his personal vision into the industry he opened lyonswiergallery in 1993. Having firmly established lyonswiergallery in Chicago between 1993 and 1999, he set his sights on New York. Upon completing his Master of Arts in Art Management work at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1999, Mr. Lyons Wier moved the gallery to New York City.

Since its inception, Lyons Wier Gallery has worked to discover and champion contemporary artists who bring fresh interpretative vision to their genre. Our focus is on Representational artists whose insight to form and color only scratch the surface behind the iconography and conceptual context of the work. The compositions and deftness of hand begets a compelling and poignant conduit from 20th Century contemporary Realism to a 21st Century keystone in Representational art. It is our intention to continue our stewardship of younger artists and to serve as an important exhibition venue for the development of their vision and careers.
